The dietary supplement market is booming. Supplement advertising would have us believe that we won't survive to the next day if we don't start taking them immediately. The situation is overwhelming to the average health-conscious consumer, because on the one hand we want to do anything possible to stay fit through old age, while on the other hand we don't know what is really good and conversely what might even be harmful.
Basically, blood levels of vitamins and minerals should be tested as much as possible before starting any supplementation. However, there do exist substances whose intake is recommended almost wholly restriction, at least starting from a certain age. One of these substances is ubiquinol, the active form of coenzyme Q10.
